CANDLE WAX-----
Start by sandwiching the wax stain between paper towels.  
Use an iron
on low heat to transfer the wax to the paper towels.  Replace
the
paper towels as they become contaminated.  Remove the
remaining wax
stain with a solution of rubbing alcohol and water.

CHEWING GUM-----
Put the garment into the freezer and freeze the chewing gum
to make it hard, then remove as much as possible.  An ice
cube can also be used.  Then rub White Vegetable
Shortening into the gum stain and wash out with warm water.
 Repeat until stain is removed.

Chocolate-----
Option 1-For fresh stains use dish washing liquid and warm
water then treat remaining stains with a commercial spot
remover.
Option 2-Apply an enzyme detergent into the stain prior to
laundering.

Coffee-----
Option 1-Hold the fabric over a metal pan and fasten with a
rubber band.  Then pour boiling water over the stain.
Option 2-for bleach safe fabrics-apply hydrogen peroxide to
the stain.
Option 3-Scrub with 1 tablespoon Borax mixed with 1 cup
water.

Crayon-----
Scrub White Vegetable Shortening into the crayon stain and
then wash out Crayon and Shortening with Mild dishwashing
liquid.  Treat the remaining stain with a commercial spot
remover.

Cream & Butter-----
Use dishwashing liquid and warm water.  Then apply an
enzyme detergent prior to laundering.

Alcohol-----
Option 1-Wash with mild dish washing liquid and rinse
immediately.
Option 2-For bleach safe fabrics-Lightly sponge with
Hydrogen peroxide.

Baby Formula-----
Option 1-Launder with an Enzyme detergent or enzyme
pre-soak.
Option 2-Cover stain with a paste made of meat tenderizer
and water.
Let stand for 20 minutes then wash as normal.

Pen Ink-----
Option 1-Spray stain with hair spray and wash with warm
water.
Option 2-Dab with rubbing alcohol then rinse with ordinary
water.

Blood-----
Option 1-First attempt to remove stain with ordinary cold
water, if unsuccessful, then use mild dish washing liquid in
cold water.  If stains still remain use a solution of 3
Tablespoons of ammonia in 1 gallon of water, scrub and
wash as normal.
Option 2-for bleach safe fabrics-Sponge with hydrogen
peroxide and then wash as normal.
Option 3-Launder with enzyme detergent in cold water.
Egg-----
Mix up a solution of 1 tablespoon of salt and 1 cup water.  
Soak stain in this solution then pretreat the stain with an
enzyme detergent prior to washing.

Grass-----
Option 1-Scrub with rubbing alcohol to remove plant stains
Option 2-for bleach safe fabrics-scrub with hydrogen
peroxide.

Grease-----
Option 1-First sprinkle the stain with Talcum powder and
allow to sit for 20 minutes.  Then wash with a mild dish
washing liquid and warm water.
Option 2-Pretreat using an enzyme detergent prior to
laundering.
Option 3-for dry grease stains-scrub with petroleum jelly and
then wash with dishwashing liquid.

Greasy Collars and Cuffs-----
Scrub with ordinary shampoo to a foamy lather, then launder
as normal.

Latex Paint-----
Fresh paint can be quickly washed with soap and water but
dried latex paint will need to be soaked in rubbing alcohol
for 30 minutes prior to laundering

Oil Paint-----
Scrub using turpentine and rubber gloves until stain softens.
 Then launder as usual.

Rust Stains-----
Scrub stains with lemon and salt.  Leave whites in sun to
bleach for 3 hrs.  Leave colors indoors for 3 hrs.  Rinse &
launder as usual.
Tar-----
Scrape off excess tar and then work Glycerin into the stain.  
Then launder as normal and treat the remaining stain with a
commercial spot remover.  Note: buy Glycerin at your local
drug store.

Urine-----
Wash in a mild dish washing liquid and then saturate the
stains with
white vinegar to remove the odor.  Launder as usual.

Home Made Carpet Shampoo-----
This is a simple easily made shampoo for Rugs and
Carpets that will remove soil from heavy traffic areas.
Pour the dish washing fluid into a bowl and then take the
boiling water and pour it over the dish washing fluid.  Stir
and then let cool until the mixture has turned to a thick, jelly
like substance.  Use a wire whip or egg beater to whip the
mixture into a thick foam.
Spread the foam over a small area to be cleaned with a
sponge or cloth and lightly scrub.  Rinse with clean water
using a sponge or soft cloth until all the suds are gone.  
Allow to dry and vacuum to remove any remaining
detergent and restore nap.

INGREDIENTS
1/2 Cup Mild Dishwashing Liquid
2 Cups of Boiling Water

Do not allow to soak any area of carpet with this mixture
and use on synthetic fiber carpets and rugs only.  The dyes
in natural fiber carpets, like wool, may not be colorfast and
may be damaged.
